What To Do When Your
Property Has Flooded

Before calling the flood restoration specialists at Green N Clean, you can take several important steps to protect your property and expedite our response.

Step 1

Isolate the Water Supply and Identify the Source

– If the source of the flooding is obvious, like a storm or appliance malfunction, isolate the water supply.

– For less apparent sources, such as a burst pipe or sewage backflow, contact a plumber or your local council’s water services for assistance.

– Different water sources (freshwater, rainwater, grey water, sewage) require specific restoration processes. Providing this information helps us prepare accordingly.

– If water has traveled from an upper level, consider isolating the electrical supply for safety.

Step 2

Confirm the Flooding Has Stopped

– Ensure the source of the water is fixed before we begin restoration. While we can help mitigate damage by removing excess water, we cannot start the drying process until the water flow is halted.

Step 3

Estimate When the Flood Occurred

– If you’ve returned to a flooded property after being away, note how long the area has been exposed to water. This helps us determine the extent of absorption and potential damage, allowing us to adjust our drying and cleaning strategies.

Step 4

Assess the Extent of the Flooding

– Determine how many rooms or floors are affected. This information allows us to send the appropriate amount of staff and equipment.

Step 5

Contact Green N Clean Flood Restoration Specialists

at 0800 150 807

Step 6

Protect Your Contents from Further Damage

– Move wet and damaged items to a dry area where we can set up dehumidifiers and air blowers.

– Remove photo frames, artwork, and wall hangings to prevent damage from our drying equipment.

Following these steps will help us restore your property quickly and effectively, minimizing damage and ensuring a smooth restoration process. Contact Green N Clean for immediate assistance and expert flood restoration services.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Flood restoration is the process of cleaning up and repairing a property that has been damaged by flooding. This includes removing water, drying out the property, cleaning and disinfecting affected areas, and repairing or replacing damaged structures and belongings.

The duration of the flood restoration process can vary depending on the extent of the damage. It can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. Factors such as the amount of water, the type of water (clean, gray, or black), and the areas affected all influence the timeline.

Flood damage can pose several health risks, including mold growth, bacteria, and contaminants in the water. These can lead to respiratory issues, skin infections, and other illnesses if not properly addressed.

To prevent mold growth after a flood, you should:

  • Remove standing water as quickly as possible.
  • Use fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the area.
  • Clean and disinfect all affected surfaces and belongings.
  • Dispose of items that cannot be thoroughly cleaned and dried.

I cannot speak highly enough of Ravi and his team. They worked tirelessly from 8.30am until 4.00pm on our 3 storey apartment building. They have dealt with previous mould and moss issues and kept going until the building was sparkling, and they were satisfied that they could do no more. Ravi and team set a high bar for others to aspire to.

The Green and Clean team did an absolutely amazing job. They washed our two story house with a split roof, cleaned our gutters and washed our driveway. Our place now looks a million bucks. We appreciate that they got the job done to such a high standard and were able to complete it only a couple of days after quoting the job. Very reasonably priced as well. We would highly recommend this company to anyone and will definitely be repeat customers.
